Program Model

Our programming is very flexible and can be tailored to a child's needs at any skill level; however, a general program model applies to most of our clients:

First Year of Intervention: 30 - 40 hours per week of intensive ABA therapy beginning by dealing with behavior issues and going through the basic curriculum areas required to do more advanced work such as requesting, imitation and motivation. Another focus of the first year is teaching skills the child lacks that will promote his or her happiness and most improve the quality of life of the entire family.

2nd Year of Intervention: Approximately 10 hours per week of preschool in a reverse inclusion setting with a shadow and 20 - 30 hours of intensive ABA therapy concentrating on more advanced academic, communication (including conversation) and social skills. We will train the school shadow to use techniques that have already proved to be effective with your child in the home environment. The shadow will be responsible for prompting your child to follow directions, remain engaged throughout the school day, and to build friendships.

3rd Year of Intervention: 10 - 15 hours per week of school with support and 15 - 20 hours of intensive ABA therapy concentrating on more advanced social concepts, abstract thinking / inference making and more advanced academic skills. An important component of this step is the fading of prompts and increasing level of independence of the child in social relationships and group behavior.

4th Year of Intervention: 30 hours in the classroom and approximately 10 hours of intensive ABA therapy focusing on more advanced social and friendship skills, logic and reasoning skills, and any academic skills that require remediation. At this stage we will be looking for and filling in any gaps in the areas children on the spectrum find most difficult, such as theory of mind, executive functioning and abstract thinking.
